Fanny Lumsden and the Thrillseekers to rock Majors Creek

As a part of her Country Halls Tour and in conjunction with Braidwood FM, the Greenhorns and the Major Creek Music Festival, Fanny Lumsden and the Thrillseekers will be Playing at the Majors Creek Hall on Friday 9 September. Majors Creek is a Beautiful little village.

Fanny Lumsden is ‘a breath of fresh country air’ according to Rolling Stone Magazine and has been coined ‘Australia’s answer to Americana’ by Rhythms Magazine. Her brand new debut record Small Town Big Shot came in at #6on the Country ARIA Chart, #15 on the AIR Chart and has gained critical acclaim all over. With the single Soapbox reaching #1 on the Country Music Channel for 3 weeks, a nomination for CMC New OZ Artist of the Year, a sold out Country Halls Tour and raving 4 star reviews, the Western NSW raised Fanny Lumsden has been hailed by The Australian as; ‘a rising singer songwriter turning heads’.

Featuring her band the Thrillseekers (Dan Stanley Freeman, Benjamin Corbett and Preston Peachey) plus some highly respected guests including Dan Dougmore on Pedal Steel, Luke Moller on fiddle and Gabby Huber and Tom Lumsden on Backing Vocals, her latest album Small Town Big Shot is an individual celebration of regional life ‘sweeping us up in the spectacular energy and beauty that comes with living on the land’.

For five years now the Western NSW raised, Fanny Lumsden and her cracking band ‘The Thrillseekers’ have been bringing halls alive and communities together on their Annual Country Halls Tour through regional Australia. With nearly all the shows on the 2015 Country Halls Tour sold out, Lumsden has built up her own version of touring that takes the music out to the people and places well off the touring circuit. “They are just the best shows, as people drive from miles around and the whole community, from Grandma’s to Kids come out for a catch up and some good old live music” Said Fanny, ‘there’s something really special and almost nostalgic about the shows, we can’t wait to get out there again”.  With shows in over 15 halls through regional NSW, Victoria and Queensland this self produced and run tour kicks off in September and will run until the end of November. Beginning back in 2012, the Country Halls tour kicked off as a fundraiser for the voluntary organisation Blazeaid who were working in the Riverina. 26 halls and five years later its really come in to its own.

Additionally Fanny Lumsden and the Thrillseekers will be supported by Braidwood local trio Rubydears. Rubydears featuring girls Emmy, Dan and Floss are the next big act coming out of the local area. Having already played a number of gigs around the district, including the support act for Brewn last June, Rubydears will get the crowd in the mood for a fantastic evening of world class tunes.

There is plenty of room for camping/caravanning at the Hall including access toilet facilities. So pack your esky and join us from 6:30pm where the Greenhorns and friends will be cooking up the BBQ with sausage and steak sandwiches.
