GOLDEN GUITAR NOMINEES FELICITY URQUHART & JOSH CUNNINGHAM
RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘SOMETHING GOOD’
‘Something Good’, the new single from Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham, is an irresistible slice of western swing deliciously topped with the pedal steel of Ben Franz (The Waifs). Written in under an hour by both Felicity and Josh, ‘Something Good’ has a classic feel but still sounds like it’s fresh from the oven.
“We went for a sound that’s of the moment but also familiar. With summer festivities on the horizon, we wanted to write a song that captured the joy of a crowd dancing in the backyard with a belly full of pavlova and good cheer, as they celebrate being together”, says Josh.
The drums and upright bass tracks added by Isaac Barter provide a comfortable bed for Josh and Fliss’ playful vocals and the uninhibited pedal steel of Ben Franz to roll around in. “Ben’s steel guitar is perfect”, reflects Felicity. “His parts are like another voice playing catch and kiss with the vocals. He truly nailed it!”
Recorded and produced by Felicity and Josh at home in Kangy Angy on the Central Coast of NSW and mixed and mastered by Isaac Barter in Geelong, Victoria, ‘Something Good’ is the anthem you need when love moves into your neighbourhood and you’ve just gotta sing about it!
With a new album set to be released in August 2023, there’s plenty of touring planned for next year, beginning at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January where they’ll be celebrating the nomination of their previous single ‘Bogswamp’ for Heritage Song of the Year at the 51st annual Golden Guitar Awards. “Something Good is going to be so much fun to do live” enthuses Felicity. “We can’t wait to take it on the road”.
