Magic Carpet Ride
|Wednesday||7:00 pm||9:30 pm|
Magic Carpet Ride is broadcast every Wednesday night from 7pm. It is an alternative music show that examines the spirited and rebellious music recorded primarily between 1962 and 1975. The program is presented by Cool Bill who has over 45 years of broadcasting experience.
Magic Carpet Ride presents a tapestry of obscure artists, many who have never been broadcast before on Australian radio. The show’s content includes psychedelia, protest music, garage bands, early country rock, folk rock, blues rock, progressive rock, early heavy metal, soul and singer songwriters. Aside from playing the unexpected, there is always an analytical focus. Magic Carpet Ride is often up to 1/3 spoken word as music is discussed in the context of the social and political circumstances that shaped it. The show also deals with the biographical and historical aspects of the musicians, producers, songwriters and record labels. Songs are carefully selected to ensure there is a maximum variety of styles, pace and volume in every program.
