From The Embers

10:30amTuesday

10:30amTuesday

In the wake of COVID-19, it's easy to forget that only a few short months ago, hundreds of communities across Australia were faced with fire and smoke, homes destroyed and one of the most difficult bushfire seasons Australia has ever seen. Not only has the rise of COVID-19 slowed recovery efforts, as the media focus their attentions on a global crisis, those who have lost everything are now also left behind. Premiering on the Community Radio Network Tuesday 21 April, the CBAA's documentary series From the Embers, takes listeners to the very heart of nine communities affected by the recent bushfire crisis. From the Embers is an important reminder to us all of the essential role that storytelling plays in ensuring we allow those affected to be honoured and heal, without feeling overlooked. Working alongside KIX FM, Radio Adelaide, 3HCR, 3MGB, 3REG, Braidwood FM, 2EAR, Edge FM and 2MNO, we sent three Producers into the field to get the stories directly from communities, in their voices.       Braidwood FM Bushfire team. (l-r) Darren Marks - RFS, Rod MCClure, Gordon Waters, Violet Wasson Braidwood FM Bushfire team. (l-r) Gorodn Waters, Bill McGinnis, Rod McClure, Gavin Pillidge   Airing on Braidwood FM Tuesday at 10:30am From the Embers Promo From the Embers - Radio Promo

Magic Carpet Ride is broadcast every Wednesday night from 7pm. It is an alternative music show that examines the spirited and rebellious music recorded primarily between 1962 and 1975. The program is presented by Cool Bill who has over 45 years of broadcasting experience. Magic Carpet Ride presents a tapestry of obscure artists, many who have never been broadcast before on Australian radio. The show’s content includes psychedelia, protest music, garage bands, early country rock, folk rock, blues rock, progressive rock, early heavy metal, soul and singer songwriters. Aside from playing the unexpected, there is always an analytical focus. Magic Carpet Ride is often up to 1/3 spoken word as music is discussed in the context of the social and political circumstances that shaped it. The show also deals with the biographical and historical aspects of the musicians, producers, songwriters and record labels. Songs are carefully selected to ensure there is a maximum variety of styles, pace and volume in every program.
