INGRID MAE – “PARTY’S OVER”
Written by Gordon Waters on February 13, 2023
“Party’s Over” is the fifth single from Ingrid Mae’s highly anticipated album “Closing Time”. This ballad is a beautiful reflection of an evening with friends yet it’s the post-celebration that hits hard.
Little did Mae know that there would be much heartache to transpire in the months after penning the song and the wonderful evening that spawned the song would take on an even greater significance in the aftermath.
The song was written the morning after her band played at Rock Guy’s birthday party held at The Gladstone Hotel at Dulwich Hill.
“It was such a lovely night, the band played; Brad on guitar, Eddie on bass and birthday boy on drums. So many old friends came along that I just felt really emotional” says Mae. “I remember thinking, these moments fuel us when we are alone”. “I feel like this album cuts a little deeper for me than Holy Smoke did” says Mae.
“Party’s Over” stands proudly amongst 14 heavy hitting tunes. Ingrid Mae has found her place at peace on the fringes yet right in the middle of the chaos. It’s this strength and vulnerability that will make you fall in love with this track and Ingrid Mae.
Beautiful production and effortless balance in space and music, this female producer commands attention. “Party’s Over” will leave you wishing it wasn’t.
“Party’s Over” is out 13th February through Squirrel Music and playing now on BRAIDWOODFM
