Peter Diskon / Presenter

Peter Diskon shows

Hi, my name is Pete Diskon, I host The Magazine each Wednesday and
Friday morning from 10am till 1pm. I talk to locals making the news as
well as our local political representatives and visiting, and up and
coming music talent.

I play lost classic hits from the 60s,70s and 80s as well as a mix of
new and classic country, focussing on our great Aussie talent.

I commenced my broadcasting career at 2XL Cooma back in 1978; prior to
that i did a cadet-ship at 3XY in Melbourne. I worked at numerous
stations around the country in mostly adult contemporary classic hits
formatted stations; however, I did host a talk-based show at 4CC, 7AD and
most recently 2EC on the South Coast. I have interviewed numerous
politicians including 5 former prime ministers and a host of musicians,
the most notable being internationals Rod Stewart, Toni Childs (twice)
and Tod Rundgren and numerous Aussie acts.

I was Program Director at 2MG Mudgee, 2NZ Northern NSW and 7BU, 7AD and
7SD in North West Tasmania based in Devonport. One of my most rewarding
roles was General Manager of CHY-FM Coffs Harbour which was and still
is a community station for youth and basically run by young people.
During my time as GM it was also a training centre for aspiring
broadcasters. We had great success with a number of those students going
on to careers in commercial radio and television.

I retired due to ill health in 2016, and after a break and open heart
surgery I decided to get involved in Community Radio because I wanted to
put something back into the industry that gave me a living and great
enjoyment for over 40 years. I’m currently a board member and presenter
at Braidwood FM, and it has been exciting to be a part of a team which is
growing the radio station and developing its own culture in the
community. I’m also employed by CMTO as a casual facilitator, and my
company, Disko Media, is consulting for a new community station which will
be launching soon in Northern NSW.
