Waters Reigns
Written by Gordon Waters on January 29, 2020
BRAIDWOOD’S Citizen of the Year is Braidwood FM
station manager Gordon Waters, who has used drive,
determination and technical expertise to improve the station.
Mr Waters, who was “honoured” to be recognised for his
contribution, has been involved with the radio station
for nine years. He said it had become more important
in the past few months with the need to provide real-time
updates on the bushfires crisis. Braidwood FM also
marked its 17th anniversary on January 26 this year.
Braidwood’s Young Citizen of the Year is Isabella
Hindmarsh, who has done the town proud as a representative
player in soccer.
The Event of the Year in Braidwood was the United
Hospital Auxiliary’s ‘Monopoly’ fundraiser, which
was sold out in less than two weeks, raising more than
$28,000 for the hospital. A special Mayoral Award was
presented to the NSW Rural Fire Service – Lake George
Zone Rural Fire Service volunteers for their tireless
efforts to protect lives and properties this summer.
